Cefoperazone is a third generation semi-synthetic cephalosporin with a broad spectrum of activity against the majority of aerobic and anaerobic gram-positive and gram-negative pathogenic bacteria in vitro. Cefoperazone sodium and -dihydrate are used for intramammary treatment of clinical mastitis in lactating cattle.
